Government-in-Action Youth Tour

Every June since the late 1950s students representing rural electric cooperatives from across the country travel to our nation’s capitol. Since 1965, Swisher Electric Cooperative has sponsored over 100 students, who have won the local speech contest, to participate in this trip of a lifetime.

Swisher Electric Cooperative believes it is important to learn about the political process, to interact with your government, to gain a personal understanding of American history and the role of citizens, and to have the opportunity to interact with peers. Students walk away from this week as a better leader with a sense that they can make a difference.

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to be a part of an annual cooperative tradition and to see firsthand the workings of our government in Washington D.C. Enter the Swisher Electric Government-In-Action Youth Tour speech contest in October each year.
